INAC – Information Network & Active Citizenship was established in 2016 by a group of professionals committed to promoting active citizenship, independent media, transparency, and community engagement. The organization was officially registered in February 2017, emerging from the need to strengthen citizens’ participation and support the development of independent and responsible media.
Over the past nine years, INAC has worked closely with communities, with a particular focus on young people, journalists, and vulnerable groups. Through its programs and initiatives, INAC has contributed to empowering citizens, encouraging youth participation in decision-making processes, promoting accountability, and supporting a more inclusive and democratic society.
Today, INAC operates with an active network of citizens and activists and manages its own local online media platform, Elbasanion, which has become an important source of information for the community by promoting quality journalism, transparency, and public accountability.
The organization is led by Fatbardha Nergjoni, an experienced journalist, media expert, and educator with extensive contributions in the fields of journalism, civic engagement, and capacity building. The financial management of INAC is coordinated by Anila Cekrezi, while youth programs and activities are supported by Edja Fecanji, youth coordinator and media professional.
INAC is supported by a network of experienced experts from different fields who contribute their knowledge and expertise to various projects and initiatives. This network is continuously updated and expanded with new professionals to respond to emerging community needs and challenges.
Our Areas of Work
INAC’s main areas of activity include:
- Youth empowerment and active citizenship – supporting young people to participate in public life, advocate for their rights, and engage in decision-making processes.
- Prevention of violence and promotion of gender equality – working to address all forms of violence and promote equal opportunities and inclusion.
- Support for disadvantaged communities – empowering marginalized groups and strengthening social inclusion.
- Media development and quality journalism – promoting independent media, investigative reporting, fact-checking, and strengthening the capacities of young journalists.
- Cultural heritage protection and promotion – raising awareness and supporting initiatives for the preservation of cultural identity.
- Research, monitoring, and advocacy – conducting studies, monitoring public institutions, and promoting transparency and good governance.
- Youth exchanges and community initiatives – creating opportunities for learning, cooperation, and intercultural dialogue.
Through its work over the past nine years, INAC has continuously strengthened its role as a trusted civil society organization, connecting citizens, communities, media, and institutions to build a more active, informed, and inclusive society.
